About Our Advisory Approach

Supporting leadership judgement in complex environments

About Expert Assist

Expert Assist provides senior technology advisory for leaders operating in complex, high‑accountability environments. The focus is not on delivery or programmes of work, but on improving the quality of leadership decisions at moments that matter.

Built for senior technology leadership

Expert Assist works with CIOs, CTOs, Heads of IT, and senior technology leaders who carry responsibility for outcomes and must make consequential decisions under time pressure and uncertainty. Engagements span permanent, interim, and fractional leadership contexts, but the advisory need is consistent: clarity, judgement, and defensible decision‑making.

Independent, senior, and deliberately focused

The advisory provided by Expert Assist is independent, senior‑led, and intentionally scoped. The work centres on establishing decision‑ready clarity, surfacing real trade‑offs, and helping leaders take positions they can stand behind — without assuming delivery ownership or embedding long‑running programmes.

This allows leaders to retain control, challenge assumptions, and act with confidence in environments where competing narratives and partial information are the norm.

Our principle architect

Expert Assist is led by Steven Turner, a senior technology advisor with extensive experience supporting executive decision‑making across architecture, operating models, platforms, suppliers, and emerging technologies.

Steven has worked with organisations operating in complex and regulated environments, where the cost of poor decisions is high and clarity is often hard‑won. His work focuses on helping leaders understand their real options, the implications of each path, and the trade‑offs involved — rather than promoting predefined solutions or frameworks.

How this advisory is applied

Engagements are typically short, focused, and anchored on specific decision needs. The advisory is applied in contexts such as AI and Copilot adoption, Target Operating Model design, Enterprise Architecture and design authority, and Modern Workplace transformation — as examples of where leadership judgement is required, not as a fixed set of services.

The emphasis remains on decision quality, clarity, and confidence to act.

What clients can expect

Clients working with Expert Assist can expect senior‑led engagement, clear and honest thinking, and outputs that stand up to executive and board‑level scrutiny.

The role of the advisory is to reinforce leadership judgement, not to replace it.
